The ears frame the face, but they should not be the center of attention. When they are prominent or asymmetrical, they can draw attention away from your other features. Otoplasty aims to reposition and reshape the cartilage so the ears blend harmoniously with the head. It is a procedure of precision and detail, designed so the result looks completely natural and allows you to wear your hair up or move with total freedom and confidence.
What is the procedure like?
We analyze the structure of your cartilage and the angle at which the ears project. We determine the exact technique needed to achieve the correction you are seeking.
We make a small incision in the posterior groove of the ear (behind it). This ensures that the scar is completely hidden and imperceptible to the naked eye.
We don’t just “pin” the ear back. We sculpt the cartilage to recreate the natural folds and ensure the new shape is aesthetic and permanent.
We carefully suture and place a soft bandage that will protect the new position during the first days of recovery.
Recommendations for your well-being
Before the surgery:
Basic coagulation laboratory tests.
Wash your hair thoroughly the night before or the day of surgery, as you will not be able to wet the area during the first few days, and wear your hair tied back on the day of surgery.
Inform us about the use of anticoagulants and aspirin, and discontinue supplements such as Omega 3, Vitamin E, garlic, and ginkgo biloba 15 days beforehand to avoid excessive bruising.
After the surgery:
It is essential to wear a soft headband or elastic band day and night during the first month to keep the ears in their new position and protect them while you sleep.
Sleep strictly on your back during the first 3 weeks to avoid any direct pressure on the ears.
The wound is behind the ear; we will teach you how to clean it gently. The stitches are usually removed after 10–12 days.
Be careful when combing your hair or putting on clothing over your head (use button-up shirts) to avoid accidentally pulling on the ears.
