Breast Explantation

We support you in the decision to remove your implants to close a chapter. This procedure focuses on both health and aesthetics, designed to reconstruct your tissue and restore your peace of mind with a harmonious result.

Health and Well-being

The decision to remove implants is just as valid as the decision to get them. Whether it is for health reasons (associated symptoms), changes in your lifestyle, or simply because you wish to return to your natural state, you will find a safe and judgment-free space in my practice. My approach is not only to remove the implant but to reconstruct the breast using your own tissues (pexy or fat transfer) so that the result is aesthetic and you feel comfortable with your new image.

What is the procedure like?

We listen to your reasons and evaluate the state of the implants and the capsule through previous exams. We determine if only the removal is necessary or if we will combine it with a lift (pexy) or fat grafting.

In the operating room, we perform the implant extraction. If the case requires it (due to health concerns or contracture), we also remove the surrounding capsule (capsulectomy) to ensure a total cleaning of the tissue.

Once the volume is removed, we reshape the remaining breast tissue. We often perform a pexy (lift) to adjust the excess skin and restore a rounded, firm shape to the breast, preventing it from looking ‘empty’.

We suture using aesthetic techniques and, if necessary, leave drains in place for a few days. We begin our follow-up care to help you adapt physically and emotionally to your new change.

Recommendations for your Well-being

Before surgery:

A high-resolution ultrasound or an MRI may be necessary to assess the exact condition of the implants and the capsule.

Understand that there will be a change in volume and shape.

Comprehensive laboratory tests and suspension of anticoagulants or supplements 15 days prior.

After surgery:

It is very common to leave drains in place during this procedure to prevent fluid buildup (seromas); their care is simple and temporary (usually 3 to 5 days).

Wear the post-surgical bra day and night during the first month to help the skin retract and adapt to the new volume.

Avoid straining your arms and do not drive during the first 2 to 3 weeks.

The final shape of the breast takes a few months to settle as the skin retracts; we will accompany you throughout this entire adaptation process.
